Recently, following the precise issuance of the switching-on command, the 220 kV step-up substation and plant power supply system of the Shandong Tai 'an Energy Storage Project successfully completed live-line operation; all equipment operating parameters remained stable, and the protection relays activated accurately and without error, marking the first-time successful completion of the project's reverse power transmission procedure.
This key milestone marks the official transition of this internationally leading large-scale salt cavern compressed air energy storage power station from the civil engineering and installation phase to a new phase focused on equipment commissioning and grid-connection preparations, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent comprehensive system-wide commissioning, unit grid-connection and power generation, and commercial operation.
The successful first-time back-powering operation has provided a stable and reliable power supply guarantee for the single-unit commissioning as well as the full-system joint debugging of all auxiliary equipment, public utility systems, and intelligent control systems at the local salt cavern energy storage power station, thereby securing the critical link in the project's construction process. Leveraging the robust plant power supply system, the project will proceed in an orderly manner with tasks including refined commissioning of the energy storage units, coordinated testing of the salt cavern gas storage system, joint trial operation of the entire system, and all specialized acceptance inspections prior to grid connection – all aimed at accelerating the project's achievement of full-capacity grid-connected power generation.

Moving forward, the Project Department will take this successful back-powering operation as a new starting point, steadfastly uphold safety standards, rigorously control project quality, accelerate construction progress, unite its efforts to overcome challenges, and efficiently advance the subsequent commissioning and finalization work, ensuring that the project achieves full-capacity grid connection and commences commercial operation at the earliest possible date.
