In the golden October, osmanthus fragrances
fill the air. While most people bask in the joy of the National Day and
Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, enjoying rare extended holidays, the Inner
Mongolia West Uyghur Wind Power Operation and Maintenance Project Department
functions like an "electricity lifeline" across urban and rural
areas. Operating 24/7, it continuously supplies robust energy to society. Here,
a group of "Light Guardians" choose to forgo family reunions,
steadfastly guarding power supply lines with responsibility and dedication.
Through this unique way, they offer the nation their deepest blessings.
Stick to it: a different kind of reunion at work
On October 1st, the 15th day of the eighth
lunar month, the Mid-Autumn Festival when families gather under twinkling
lights. At the 220 kV Xiwu Substation, duty officer Zhang Zhexian and colleague
Liu Jiashuai couldn't be found admiring the full moon. Armed with infrared
thermometers and walkie-talkies, they were conducting their fourth special
inspection of the day, navigating through towering transformers and dense rows
of power distribution equipment.

During the Double Ninth Festival, the power
grid load exhibited new characteristics due to the return migration, tourism
boom, and various celebratory events. To ensure safe and stable grid
operations, Mengxi Power Grid initiated emergency power supply plans in
advance. All substations increased staffing and inspection frequency,
particularly conducting special patrols and night inspections on critical
equipment including key lines, main transformers, and circuit breakers.
In the main control room of the substation, real-time data on voltage, current, and load values are constantly displayed on every monitoring device. The duty officers must keep their eyes glued to these operational parameters, as even the slightest anomaly escapes their keen vigilance. "We are like sentinels of the power grid," said Jia Junsheng, the station manager. "We must stay alert at all times, because behind us lies the light and warmth for countless households." He added that they have long grown accustomed to this routine of "working during holidays."

As the moon shines brightest during the Mid-Autumn Festival, our commitment to safeguarding light grows ever stronger. During this special holiday celebrating both family and nation, substation staff measure their duty through steadfast footsteps and demonstrate responsibility with unwavering focus. They offer no grandiose rhetoric, only quiet dedication; they don't bask in the spotlight, yet remain indispensable during this season. Their steadfast commitment illuminates the light of reunion, protects holiday joy, and provides the most reliable energy support for stable economic and social operations. They are the most beautiful scenery of this festive season.
